Why did I build this website?

I built it in the spirit of Amateur radio to offer encouragement and support to other amateur radio operators, and to offer friendly advice, kind assistance and counsel to the beginning radio operator and maybe a few intermediate operators as well. I believe that the consideration and interests of others to be an important mark of good amateur radio practice and spirit. I have always updated my equipment and tried to be up to date in general amateur radio knowledge, maybe I can pass along some useful info to someone else along the way.

As an avid builder of Ham Radio Antennas , I have built and used over 70 in the real world, always looking for more signal.
My favorite amateur radio antenna for the HF bands 10- 20 meters is the Cubical Quad antenna.
I have built dozens of them, and continue to model, test and research more variations of them. as of 2021.
Other antennas I like are loops for for 40/80 meters. This site will show you what many of these antennas are and how to quickly build simple wire antennas all the way up to easy and quick build yagi antennas and cubical quad antennas. Here you will find some easy to understand amateur radio antenna ideas. Easy to follow paragraphs about antenna db gain, antenna propagation, a wire antenna guide, a small bit of completely biased information about SWR and using an antenna tuner. Ladder line antennas, how amateur radio antennas work, Eznec software and what it can do for you. And a Yagi Antenna Calculator, A Cubical Quad Antenna Calculator, A Dipole Antenna Calculator, A Loop Antenna Calculator, A Wire Antenna Calculator, And a guide to many ham radio wire antennas.

Personally I look for the rare DX where I can find it, and work SSB exclusively right now. I forgot the code long ago, but CW has been on my mind lately again.
I also do like to challenge myself occasionally on 10 meters with the help of good friend, working distant Groundwave only contacts
I have made quite a few contacts over the years over 300 Plus miles. Not Skip or Dx just Groundwave.Today? Impossible you say, well read on.

I have been an ham radio operator for over 25 years. Hopefully I can help you build your ham radio antennas.
I am not going to bore you with pages and pages of Antenna theory or jargon, which are meaningless to both you and me.
But I will try to get to the heart of the matter by telling you what you need to know when you build a ham radio antenna. The design of this website is simple, its supposed to be that way. It's meant to be easy to read and follow like it was built in 1995. I don't get on every ham radio forum and start posting like a madman, somehow claiming to be the smartest guy in the world. I'm certainly not. I'm just here to present accurate information I have personally learned along the way through antenna experimentation in the real world, through software and most importantly by actually building the antennas I talk about. Admittedly this website is a work in progress, besides updating the 100's of spelling errors, I am always looking to add more information I might have forgotten about or new ideas from other amateurs who point them out to me. So it gets updated regularly, also as I get new antennas from manufacturers to test and learn about.

I have built all kinds of Ham Radio Antennas....Cubical Quad antennas, Yagi antennas, Dipole Antennas, Wire antennas, VHF, UHF, vertical antennas, tri bander Yagi Antenna, Steppir, Hygain, Mosley, Cushcraft, MFJ, you name it.

I do have a beautiful model wife who supports my hobby, and even makes some of the amateur radio hamfests around the country.
Other hobbies include, Riding Motorcycles, Drag Racing and collecting Muscle Cars, Collecting records, Flying RC planes, yada yada yada....I have owned several hobby stores and online hobby businesses.
